The Amazon Web Services or AWS is the subsidiary of Amazon which provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments on a metered pay-as-you-go basis. The cloud computing web services provides a variety of basic abstract technical infrastructure and distributed computing building blocks and tools. The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) allows users to have a virtual cluster of computers, available all the time through the Internet. The AWS's virtual computers emulate most of the attributes of the real computer including the hardware central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) for processing that is local/RAM, hard-disk/SSD storage, networking, choice of Operating systems and further pre-loaded application software such as the web servers, databases, and customer relationship management (CRM). From the forensics perspective, such devices could present lots of useful artifacts during the investigation. There are well-defined procedures to extract and analyze data from IOS devices which are included in this paper. The AWS technology is implemented at server farms throughout the world and further maintained by the Amazon subsidiary and Fees are based on a combination of usage known as a 'Pay-as-you-go' model.
